Earlier this week I was invited along to the press launch of Linton and Mac – a new hair salon in Aberdeen.
Centrally located in Aberdeen’s Netherkirkgate Linton and Mac founded by seasoned stylists Jennifer Linton and Joanna MacDonald offered a refreshing escape from the typically gray Aberdeen scenery. Whatever I had initially expected, this by far surpassed my expectations and within moments of stepping inside I had absolutely fallen in love. As I chatted with Joanna over a gin and tonic she told me the stories behind some of the salon’s unique touches from the imported tiles to the handcrafted furniture. Discussing the feel of the salon she mentioned that they had wanted to do something different, something personal and make the salon experience just that – an experience.
The girls had shyed away from a typical salon set up and instead opted to give it the characteristics of a metropolitan bar. Straighteners, curlers and hair drying equipment were all tucked neatly out of sight. Even the sinks were unobtrusive and barely noticed with so much detail elsewhere to marvel at. The small team of staff seemed incredibly excited to be part of the company’s vision and couldn’t have been more helpful or friendly.
In terms of pricing I found everything to be reasonable and for the level of service and the cheeky tipple thrown in I am certain they could have charged more. In addition to offering an express lookbook hair up service the salon also homed a make up artist and nail bar, making night out prep a whole lot easier and waay more exciting (I cannot be trusted to successfully complete any of these tasks with wine on hand).
Though there was something undoubtedly cool (for lack of a better word) about the space, between the personal touches and intimate stories you couldn’t help but feel at home.
Linton and Mac officially opens on the 1st of September and I highly recommend you book an appointment* as it is guaranteed to get busy!
